How long can a dog take Apoquel?
There are no time restrictions on the use of APOQUEL. Your dog can continue to be treated with APOQUEL as long as your veterinarian recommends.
How does Apoquel work for dogs?
Apoquel starts relieving an allergic dog within 4 hours and effectively controls itching within 24 hours. It treats and controls itching and inflammation in dogs resulting from a variety of causes, including flea allergy, food allergy, contact allergy, and atopic dermatitis.
Can I stop Apoquel immediately?
Apoquel can be safely stopped when you want. However, if itching reoccurs, the treatment needs to be started over again at a higher dose.
Does my dog need to have any tests run before starting Apoquel treatment?
As long as your dog is in good health otherwise, no specific tests are necessary. If your dog is on some treatment, please consult your vet before starting the treatment.
How Often Do I Have To Give Apoquel?
Apoquel is given twice daily for up to 14 days, and then once daily for maintenance therapy. It can be given with or without food.
Can I Use Apoquel Along With Other Treatments?
Apoquel is safe to use along with antibiotics, antifungals, anti-arthritis treatment, allergy shots or drops, any flea/tick/heartworm preventive, thyroid supplements, and seizure treatment. Please consult your vet before giving any treatments to your pet.
