Apoquel for dogs
Apoquel is a powerful, anti allergic treatment for pruritis associated with allergic dermatitis and atopic dermatitis in dogs. It also helps in the itching associated with food allergies in canines. Apoquel is a fast acting anti-inflammatory treatment that starts working within 4 hours of its administration. It also removes complete itching within 24 hours. Dogs that are over 12 months of age and weigh more than 6.6 lbs can be successfully treated with Apoquel.
How Does It Work?
Apoquel is a highly effective treatment for eliminating allergic reaction in dogs. Oclacitinib maleate,the active ingredient in the product gets readily absorbed by the body and starts acting in few hours to provide relief. It works to inhibit the function of proinflammatory and pruritogenic cytokines like JAK 1 and JAK 3 that are responsible for producing allergic reaction in the body.

Apoquel tablets must be administered orally as per the weight of the dog.

45-59.9 lbs | 2 tablets of 5.4mg twice daily until 14 days |
60-89.9 lbs | 1 tablet of 16mg twice daily until 14 days |
90-129.9 lbs | 1 ½ tablet of 16mg twice daily until 14 days |
130-175.9 lbs | 2 tablets of 16mg twice daily until 14 days |
- Do not use Apoquel in dogs that are less than 12 months old or weigh less than 6.6 pounds.
- The product must not be used in breeding, pregnant or lactating dogs.
- Store it in a cool and dry place.
- Keep out of reach of children and other pets.
- Must not be used in cats.
- Wash hands after handling the product.

- Do not administer Apoquel if the dog is hypersensitive to Oclacitinib

How long can a dog take Apoquel?
There are no time restrictions on the use of APOQUEL. Your dog can continue to be treated with APOQUEL as long as your veterinarian recommends.
How does Apoquel work for dogs?
Apoquel starts relieving an allergic dog within 4 hours and effectively controls itching within 24 hours. It treats and controls itching and inflammation in dogs resulting from a variety of causes, including flea allergy, food allergy, contact allergy, and atopic dermatitis.
Can I stop Apoquel immediately?
Apoquel can be safely stopped when you want. However, if itching reoccurs, the treatment needs to be started over again at a higher dose.
Does my dog need to have any tests run before starting Apoquel treatment?
As long as your dog is in good health otherwise, no specific tests are necessary. If your dog is on some treatment, please consult your vet before starting the treatment.
How Often Do I Have To Give Apoquel?
Apoquel is given twice daily for up to 14 days, and then once daily for maintenance therapy. It can be given with or without food.
Can I Use Apoquel Along With Other Treatments?
Apoquel is safe to use along with antibiotics, antifungals, anti-arthritis treatment, allergy shots or drops, any flea/tick/heartworm preventive, thyroid supplements, and seizure treatment. Please consult your vet before giving any treatments to your pet.
